Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese
healing art that was synthesized into being by Mikao Usui in the late
1800's and is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing.
Since the word Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy,
it (strictly speaking) refers to the energy and not the specific
techniques taught by Reiki Masters.
"Reiki"
is a Japanese word for the concept: "Universal Life Energy". Reiki's
initial stages can be learned by anyone regardless of their personal
philosophy and/or spiritual belief system. Through the initiations of
Reiki comes a "re-awakening", a re-opening of the life force (the light)
that is within us.
In Reiki, the energy flows
into us ,and then we act as a vehicle through which this energy can be
directed onto another individual from our hands. It
becomes natural to touch someone and allow this healing energy to flow,
when someone is in pain, and to help in relieving this pain. A Reiki
treatment restores balance and harmony to the whole person, bringing about
a sense of wellness.
1. Just
for today, I will live Attitude of Gratitude.
Always feel thankful for what we have as well as what we know will
constantly be provided. Our normal state is that of all - sufficiency
or abundance. By living in gratitude one can shift from the vicious
circle of lackness to the virtuous circle of abundance.
2. Just
for today, I will not worry.
Worry results from a feeling of separateness from the universal
Wholeness. Do not interfere with the Universal timing in Life. Live
each day to the best of your ability and everything else will be taken
care of.
3.
Just for today, I
will not anger.
Anger is the result of feeling out of control. When you get angry,
become aware of your reactions and also feel thankful for having got an
opportunity to look at your weakness. Do not feel guilty for
experiencing anger. Be in attitude of gratitude and just for today do
not anger.
4. Just
for today, I will do my work honestly.
To be honest with oneself is to face truth in
all things. Truth brings clarity. Honesty with oneself will project
honesty onto others.
5.
Just for today, I
will show love and respect for every Living Thing.
We are all of one source and are interdependent. To show love and
respect to all others is to love and respect oneself and our Mother
Earth.
